Question: I am on my phone wayyy too much. Any tips you recommend for unplugging every now and then?
Feeling like you are glued to your smartphone is a very common thing. I mean, it has any app you could dream of, social media, the internet, an instant connection to friends and family…so there’s a lot you can do on that little thing!
But, like you’re implying, it’s good to take a break from the screen. There are two things I would recommend doing.
Firstly, try to have an unplugged weekend. Do things that are active, so you won’t even be thinking about using your phone. Play a sport, go for a hike or run, paint, read a book! It’ll feel great to have a little time away from the screen.
However, it’s understandable that your phone is very useful and inevitably going to be looked at often. So if having full days where you unplug and go off the grid sounds unrealistic, simply limit your screen time. Smartphones even have a feature where it logs how often you use your phone, and on what apps. Set limits for yourself. You like ice cream, but you know you can’t have it every day! So treat social media that way.
Check it just a few times a day, or once a day, or even just once a week eventually. You’ll probably find your relationships improving, as you cut down on screen time and are more engaged with the people around you.
Hope that helps! Til next time..
