This week’s topic: Texting Culture: Emojis
We have arrived at the final piece of advice when it comes to texting culture. Debatably the most important thing to pay attention to when texting is: how you use emojis!
Emojis have grown in complexity a ton in the past few years. Before it was all about smiley faces, but now there are a near infinite amount of emojis to choose from.
Generally, the vibe between texters is positive when emojis are being used. Even if the subject matter is about something upsetting, and involves a frowning emoji, the fact that there are emojis is a symbol of goodwill between the pair texting each other.
One tricky emoji is the “thumbs up”. It can be pretty hard to tell if it is being used sarcastically, or genuinely. The better you know the person you’re chatting with, the easier it’ll be to know how they’re using the “thumbs up” emoji.
A fun thing about emojis is that you can get super creative and use them instead of words! As the range of available emojis continues to grow, expect to see them more and more in your digital conversations.
If a picture says 1000 words, and an emoji is technically a picture, it sounds a lot more productive to use emojis than words…right?
